Payson Temple

“We go to the temple to make sacred covenants with our Father. We go home to keep them.”

Rem got an amazing job that she started this week!! Sadly it has a very strict schedule for the first three months. That includes her working every Saturday. As you may have guessed this threw a bit of a wrench in our plan to attend a different temple every Saturday morning. Full honestly there was a moment where I thought we weren’t going to end up making this happen. I thought we would’ve have had to call it quits at two temples, but don’t worry guys we are determined and through planning, some serious drive, and some help from God we are going to make this happen!

Spiritual message of the week from Em! Helaman 3:29 guys.

“Yea, we see that whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked—”.

I read this while waiting in the chapel for our session to start and guys it is so true. Anytime you are facing doubts, hardships, or just “the snares and the wiles of the devil” turn to the word of God! The word of God will help you escape the darkness and fog of the world and lead you back to that “strait and narrow course” that will lead you to back to our Father in Heaven. Life can get so hard. I, like many of you, have had times where I feel overwhelmed by the “gulf of misery” that is surrounding me. The word of God, or more specifically scripture, will help you escape. Whether it be modern or ancient scripture it will help you find the peace you are looking for.

Now quick little side note. Because of Rem’s new schedule we ended going on Thursday night opposed to our regular Saturday morning. I have to say I noticed a difference between going to a morning session versus going at night. While all temple attendance is amazing I would suggest if you guys can make it work go in the morning! It is truly the best way to start off you day.

Going in the morning really just allows you to start your day off right. Since most of us won’t be making it to the temple every morning, we encourage you to really try to start your day off with a prayer. It will help you start the day with a fresh mind and the companionship of the Holy Ghost.

Spiritual message from Rem: Moroni 10:32.

Yea, acome unto Christ, and be bperfected in him, and cdeny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and dlove God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be eperfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

Why do I love this scripture? Because life sucks sometimes! It gets you down and as we are human we still stumble and we will fall short time and time again. However, we are in luck because just as when we fall and scrape our knees and our bodies heal, so can our spirits be healed through Christ. All we have been asked to do is love Him, and strive to live a life like His. It is that simple.

There is a book by Sherrie Dew called If Life Were Easy It Wouldn’t Be So Hard. My grandpa often says, “If the gospel is so easy why is it so hard?” I have thought often of this and come to realize it is hard for two reasons.

#1, because we are human and we are subject to the sins, temptations, pains, and all affliction the world has to offer (thanks satan).

#2, because we allow satan to catch us in our weakness meaning we give into those temptations, into the bad days, into the natural man, and we make excuses for ourselves.

But don’t make the gospel hard. There are few very important things we must do to be happy and to be worthy of Gods grace, mercy, and blessings. And no, I didn’t include love because God love for us is not conditional or to be earned; it is constant and unwavering.

We must: keep the commandments, attend church, serve and love one another, and keep a close relationship without Father in Heaven through prayer, scripture study, fasting, and other personal worship and communication.

Remember, it is called enduring to the end for a reason.
